The Gulf of Penas remembers the eternal route of the aboriginals of years past, while the sinking of the Andes Mountains created the small islands covered with short Coigues, Lengas, and Cypreses. In the middle of the multicoloured waters, a cause of the Southern Ice Fields, Puerto Eden greets the passengers, leaving a living testimony of the last of the Kaweskar in the area. During the high season, we can see the magnificence of the Pío XI Glacier, known for being the largest in South America. It is 64 kilometres long and is located in the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park. This glacier stands out for its colour changes, blue and white, that result when large cracks are produced in the ice following large waves.
